Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Collection

Anyone for Tennis?!

That time of year has come around again, The Championships, Wimbledon are nearly upon us with the world famous tennis tournament starting Monday July 3rd until Sunday July 16th. It has been held at the All-England Club in Wimbledon, London since 1877 making it the world’s oldest tennis tournament as well as being widely regarded as the most prestigious. It’s the only Grand Slam Tournament to be played on grass with both the men’s and women’s single competitions made up of 128 players.

Strawberries and Cream are traditionally eaten by spectators at Wimbledon and have become culturally synonymous with the tournament. The story behind this tradition is about when King Henry VIII visited Cardinal Thomas Wolsey whose home was at Hampton Court about ten miles from Wimbledon. The rumour is that the chancellors cook served wild strawberries and cream as a desert while the King was there. Since the King ate it, the dessert gained popularity. In 2017, fans consumed 34,000 Kg (33 Imperial Tons) of British Strawberries and 10,000 litres (2,200 Imperial Gallons) of cream. In 2019 191,930 portions of Strawberries and Cream were served at The Championships at Wimbledon!

Alongside the consumption of traditional Strawberries and Cream is the summer drink Pimm’s, another treat that tennis fans can pamper themselves with. A Pimm’s bar was first set up at the All-England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in 1971. Since then, it has become a tradition and fans look forward to visiting the bar to have a good time. Every year, the amount consumed by individuals visiting the club exceeds the previous one. At the last edition, there were 276,291 glasses of Pimm’s that were consumed. Pimm’s itself is a gin-based herbal liqueur whose exact recipe is a closely guarded secret, it’s usually served with lemonade, fresh mint leaves, chopped strawberries, orange slices and cucumber slices making it a delicious and rather glamourous looking cocktail.

Splendid Strawberries!

Strawberries taste as good as they look and they are really good for you! Did you know that they are not just good for us when we eat them but are very effective at improving our skin when applied topically. Strawberries are packed with vitamin C antioxidants which protects us from UV damage and so prevents collagen destruction. Combining this with ellagic acid and strawberries produce a strong photoprotective effect on our skin. They are also good at preventing wrinkles and fine lines making our skin look healthier and younger. In fact, strawberries have been used for facial spa therapy since the Roman and Egyptian eras for its numerous medicinal properties.

Eminence Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Collection is uplifting and deliciously scented. It’s formulated with Eminence’s unique Botanical Hyaluronic Acid complex, this collection once used will become your go-to for hydration. Encapsulating the skincare version of a bowl of strawberries and cream is Eminence’s Strawberry Rhubarb Masque. The strawberries gently exfoliate while the rhubarb and vegan-friendly hyaluronic acid calm and plump for a refreshed appearance.

A glass of Pimm’s is packed full of botanicals! From the secret herby mix to the chopped up additional fruit that gives a jug or glass of Pimm’s it’s classic bountiful appearance. Go to any beauty counter, and you’ll find rows of skincare products featuring plant-based extracts, plants can nourish and heal us from the outside as well as the inside. Herbs (in particular mint), Cucumber, Orange, Lemon and Strawberries are all found in great abundance in a serving of Pimm’s but did you know that these fruits and plants are all amazing for a whole host of skin issues?!

Starting with Eminence Herbal Eye Make-up Remover to address the herb and cucumber section of your Pimm’s. Herbal Eye Make-up Remover combines Calendula Flower, Comfrey, Chamomile and Lavender extracts with Pimm’s classic Cucumber to soothe, cleanse and refresh the skin removing all make-up.

Eminence Lip Trio Kit contains a whole host of fruits and botanicals but today we’re all about the orange! The Citrus Enzyme Lip Exfoliator contains Orange Peel which is high in vitamin C, antioxidant and Polyphenols rich. It helps to refine and smooth the lip area.

Standing in for the Lemonade part of your Pimm’s is Eminence Lemon Cleanser, this uses the moisturising oils from the Lemon Peel rather than the astringent juice so is suitable for normal to dry skin types. It provides vitamins and moisture leaving skin naturally soft and clean.

A glass of Pimm’s wouldn’t be right without the mint! It adds a gentle flavour to the drink as well as a splash of brilliant green, in skincare mint is antioxidant, antibacterial and a purifier. Eminence Vanilla Mint Hand Cream softens, soothes and hydrates even cracked, dry skin on the hands.

Strawberries have already had their very own section such is their star power but to complete our Pimm’s and Lemonade skincare theme I think I’ll add an Eminence Strawberry Rhubarb Hyaluronic Serum! Strawberry is a cleansing and astringent; it contains salicylic acid that gently exfoliates and removes impurities to brighten the look of skin and shrink the appearance of pores.

Don’t Forget the SPF!!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, don’t forget the SPF! Even if Wimbledon can’t persuade you to pick up a racquet and you are content to just watch it’s still important to protect your skin. If it actually inspires you to get sporty, when it comes to staying fit and healthy taking steps to prevent sun damage is just as important as proper training and nutrition.

Unprotected sun exposure is the most ageing condition for our skin. Eminence has a range of products for the face and body, to protect your skin while still delivering nutrient-rich ingredients to calm, hydrate and soothe. These products use all natural, no-nano particle mineral protection that provides a physical barrier against UVA and UVB rays, helping to protect the skin from sun damage. Aromas include Aloe, Shea Butter and Vanilla making this range so enjoyable to use.
