With the growth in demand for vegan skincare we wanted to give you some great tips and advice on the best vegan options for skincare going from Summer to Autumn.

As the seasons change from the warmth of summer to the cooler temperatures of autumn there are some key skincare tips that you can include in your routine to keep your skin glowing all year long!

Scrub Away The Summer Blues!

The summer can take its toll on your skin, with the use of sunscreens, additional exposure to UV rays and increased temperatures... you can find your skin has a build up of dead skin cells making it look duller and tired, plus the use of greasy suncreen products can result in breakouts from a build up of dead skin cells and sunscreen products!

The best way to give your skin an instant glow of vibrancy is with an exfoliation treatment. Removing the dull, dead top layer of skin cells reveals healthy new skin cells that make your complexion look younger and feel smoother. If you have suffered with summer breakouts, a good "scrub" will help to remove a build up of impurities on the skin and help prevent those breakouts from returning.

Incorporate exfoliation into your autumn routine 1-3 times per week to keep a healthy summer glow lasting all season. Most exfoliants are simple to use and take only a few minutes to apply and work. It is an easy step that delivers great results!

One of our favourite vegan exfoliators, especially for the autumn is the yummy Yam & Pumpkin Enzyme Peel.

Give Your Skin A Drink!

A change in season can leave your skin crying out for moisture and hydration. Increased perspiration in the summer can lead to a dryer skin as the skin looses water and urea through sweat,  perspiration can in some cases, also lead to irritation of the skin in sensitive areas. Your skin is also affected by Trans Epidermal Water Loss, this is where your skins natural hyaluronic acid (or water!) is lost through evaporation at the skins surface. Although you loose water through trans epidermal water loss in the summer it is reported that this increases in the fall. As we transition from summer to autumn you may find you need additional hydration and possibly moisture to keep your skin soft, supple and healthy.

You can incorporate a vegan serum or concentrate applied underneath your normal moisturiser to boost your skins hydration or you can plump for a richer moisturier. We think the best tip to give your skin a drink is to add a serum in the day and a richer moisturiser at night.

Eminence Organics Nighttime Skin Care Routine

Add A Night-time Routine For Extra Benefits:

As the days get shorter and the nights longer what better time than the autumn to start a night time skincare routine.

There are quite a few additional benefits to using products just before bedtime over your daily routine:

Firstly, it is very important to cleanse your skin at night to keep your complexion clear and minimise the chance of breakouts or irritation. Cleansing not only removes make-up if you have worn it, any residual moisturisers or sunsreens but it removes any impurities and dirt your skin has been exposed to that day.

When you are sleeping your body's natural repair process steps up a notch, in fact it doubles so taking advantage of this natural increase helps boost the visible results you can acheive from your skincare products.

We mentioned trans epidermal water loss (TEWL) earlier, well this loss of natural water in your skin also doubles at night so in reality you wake up with a more dehydrated skin than when you went to bed! Lock and trap this water in your skin by applying a moisturiser at night to protect your skin and keep it hydrated.

Finally as many of us are short on time the thought of sitting and doing a regular face masque can be something we just cant fit in our schedules, so appy your creamy face masque at night 2 x week instead of your moisturier and go to sleep with it on. If you are worried about your bed linens then put a towel or extra pillow case on your pillow to protect it. The masque will be absorbed as you sleep, working it's magic and there will be hardly anything to remove the next morning. All the benefits with hardly any effort!

Try A Nourishing Face Maque:

We just mentioned a great tip for adding a mask into your routine easily, as facial masques are such a great way to help treat your skin. We like to call face masks the fixers as they are a highly concentrated product with active botanicals that can help to fix your skin concerns. There is a wide variety of masks on the market today, so whatever your concern and skin type there will be a mask for you. Clay based masks are great for oilier skins and shea butter based masques are ideal for drier skins.

Most times you need to apply a face masque 2-3 times per week, and another tip for when to apply a masque is when you have a relaxing bath. The steam from the hot water keeps the masque damp which can help absorption... it is hopefully a nice relaxing time too, so turn down the lights, light a candle or two and listen to some soothing music!
