International Women's Day 2024 campaign theme: "Inspire Inclusion"

For International Women's Day 2024 and beyond, let's Inspire Inclusion.

When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world.

And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment.

The aim of the IWD 2024 #InspireInclusion campaign is to collectively forge a more inclusive world for women. (from the International Women’s Day official website)

Quotes and Encouragement

International Women’s Day is 8th March 2024 and is a day where globally we celebrate all it is and all it takes to be a woman. This year the theme is to inspire inclusion so we can work towards a better world together.

I am a female business owner and along with millions of others I strive to inspire and empower my fellow womankind to be your best and celebrate being a woman.

There have been some courageous and strong females throughout history and of course the longest serving monarch was our very own Queen Elizabeth II

If you need some inspiration here are some great quotes celebrating women.

“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.”

– Alice Walker

“I encourage women to step up. Don’t wait for somebody to ask you.”

– Reese Witherspoon, Actor

“Today, we are celebrating the strength, determination, and resilience of women everywhere.”

– Michelle Obama

“Feminism isn’t about making women stronger. Women are already strong. It’s about changing the way the world perceives that strength.”

– G.D. Anderson

Women are different to men in many ways as we know, but did you know their skin is different too!

Here are some of the main differences and how skincare can help:

  • Thicker and tougher – yes, a man’s skin is thicker by about 20%! This is in the deeper dermal layer of the skin and is a result of higher testosterone levels. Men tend to get deep set wrinkles because of this, whereas women tend to have more superficial fine lines and wrinkles. For men their skincare routine should include products with Vitamin A or Retinol and look for Collagen boosting ingredients. Eminence has natural, botanical retinol alternatives and uses botanical collagen and smart collagen + technologies in their Age Corrective and Marine Flower product lines. For women although these ingredients are equally as important, they may need some hydration for the superficial layers too. Our Firm Skin and Strawberry Rhubarb products contain superfood berries plus Botanical Hyaluronic Acid to really target fine lines.

The Differences Keep Coming

  • Sebum or oil production is higher in men as they have more sebaceous glands than women, meaning men generally have an oilier skin than women. Male teenagers are often more susceptible to acne breakouts as the excess oil production can clog pores and lead to acne pimples. For men cleansing with an oil balancing cleanser is ideal, our Clear Skin line is exceptional for men, it has a great fresh scent with a cooling feel and helps to balance the skin and heal breakouts. Women may need to infuse their skin with oil to keep it moisturised and smooth. Try a facial oil for additional moisture, they can be used on their own, underneath a moisturiser or a couple of drops can be added to your favourite moisturiser for an additional punch of moisture.
  • Collagen, well the fact is that men produce more collagen than women! As Collagen is directly linked to visible signs of ageing in our skin, it is said a man’s skin can look 15 years younger than a woman of the same age…! But, as men are not so good at looking after their skin with proper skincare routines and often don’t use SPF as often, this could negate that natural benefit of a younger looking skin for a man! For this one we encourage men to start a healthy skincare routine and use SPF protection daily. Make sure as a guy, you Cleanse twice a day, and use a Tonique and a Moisturiser at least… this is the simplest most effective routine for anyone. For women we can look at collagen boosting products and our Bakuchiol + Niacinamide plus our Marine Flower collections are both collagen boosting powerhouse lines.

And Some More

  • Finally, shaving! Guys have thick, course facial hair and may need to shave their faces if they want a clean shaven look. This can benefit the skin as well as cause irritation! The benefit is from the gentle superficial exfoliation that happens with the action of shaving, removing the dull surface layer of dead skin can leave your skin looking more youthful but… as the skin on the face can be quite sensitive, the act of shaving can also cause irritation and ingrown hairs. The rash from shaving is called sycosis barbae. To help prevent or minimise these dastardly shaving bumps make sure your razor is sharp and use a shaving product to help the slip of the razor. Stone Crop Gel Wash can be used as a shaving gel and with it’s soothing and healing benefits it can help keep any shaving rashes to a minimum too.

  • Pore size is another difference in our skins, men generally have more pores which are often larger, this can make their skin look rougher in texture and of course if you don’t keep your skin cleansed, then blocked pores can become an issue. Our Mangosteen product lines have our unique Lactic Acid Complex with Red Clover Flower Extract, together they help to minimise pores and give your skin a natural youthful radiance with a smoother texture.
