Festive Skincare Tips

Festive Season Skincare 101....it's that time of year where we look forward to a (socially distanced and safe) festive season typically filled with decadent rich foods, a cocktail of drinks, and some later nights, so it's important to understand the effects of these festivities on your skin to ensure you look your best throughout.

To help you maintain a healthy and radiant complexion throughout the festivities we have put together some simple tips to keep you looking your seasonal best!

4 Skincare Tips You Should Follow This Festive Season

Cleanse Away the Day

The most simple and easiest tip is to make sure you cleanse away the remains of your day. Simply using a cleanser at night to remove the build-up of dirt, impurities and pollutants will help you avoid clogged pores, breakouts, dullness and irritation. Choose a cleanser that also treats your skin with active botanical ingredients and your complexion will look fresh and healthy.

Dehydration

Later nights, richer foods and a cocktail or two can lead to a more dehydrated skin caused by the increase in alcohol, salt and sugar. As our skin loses water through transepidermal water loss it will feel tighter, drier and rougher in texture. Treat dehydration with a gentle exfoliation followed by a hydrating masque.

Try Eminence's VitaSkin Exfoliating Peels with a blend of botanical alpha hydroxy acids to gently remove dead skin. Simple and easy to use just saturate a cotton pad, apply to the face and neck and leave for 3 minutes.... that's it! These self-neutralising peels can be used in the daytime or at night and will leave your skin soft and smooth and radiant.

After you exfoliate apply a face masque formulated to treat dehydration such as Strawberry Rhubarb Masque or Firm Skin Acai Masque. With botanical hyaluronic acid, these masques will replace the lost moisture in your skin plumping and firming the skin resulting in a more youthful and healthier looking complexion

Moisturiser

Another tip for a festively fabulous complexion is to make sure you protect your skin with a moisturiser designed for your skin type. A good moisturiser will treat and protect your skin from the effects of environmental stressors and ageing. Throughout your day your skin is exposed to UV, pollution and toxins which cause inflammation in your skin from free radical damage. Moisturisers high in antioxidants will help to repair and rejuvenate your skin helping to prevent the visible results of premature ageing.

Don't forget your lips! Not only is it important to protect your skin but it is also important to protect your lips. Use a petroleum-free lip balm such as; Citrus Lip Balm or Rosehip & Lemongrass Lip Balm SPF15 to moisturise, plump and hydrate your lips. These lip balms don't just cover your lips they treat and heal your lips preventing dry and even cracked lips!

Increase Your Water Intake

Finally it is important to increase your water intake to help reduce dehydration not only in your skin but in your body.  Dehydration not only comes from the festivities at this time of year but also from central heating and cooler weather ... remember, healthy skin is a reflection of what you put inside your body and on to your skin.
