Every year Eminence joins the movement to celebrate Earth Day… although every day is earth day at Eminence!
What is Earth Day?
Earth day is a movement not a day! There is an official website and their legacy is,
“the first Earth Day in 1970 mobilised millions of Americans from all walks of life to embrace the birth of a modern environmental movement. Since then, Earth Day has evolved into the largest civic event on Earth, it activates billions of people across 192 countries to help safeguard our planet and fight for a brighter future” https://www.earthday.org/

This year’s theme is planet vs plastic, the hope is to bring awareness to the issues and health risks of plastics to humans and the planet, they are committed to reduce the production of plastics by 60% by 2040. Eminence’s Commitment to the Environment
Eminence is a company that supports environmental initiatives and looks for ways to help improve and maintain a healthier planet.
Here are some of the ways Eminence is working towards a greener future:
- For years Eminence has supported the Forests For The Future program, planting a tree for every single product sold and has proudly planted over 25 millions trees to date. The Forests For The Future program helps to train farmers as well as plant trees, which in turn helps build productive and sustainable farms supporting local communities with food production and sustainable incomes for families.
The other great thing about planting trees is the benefit to the earth and environment. A single tree produces 118kg of oxygen a year. They help to combat climate change because a tree helps to lower the air temperature too! They also have a positive effect on the soil around them as their roots help prevent soil erosion, they improve the fertility of soil with nitrogen and increase water penetration. Wow, who knew trees were so magnificent!
Green is the New Black!
- Proudly certified as a B Corporation company, Eminence was one of the first Canadian Skincare companies to achieve this honour. B Corporation companies are businesses that follow high standards for overall environmental and social accountability, these companies use the power of business to do good working toward corporate responsibility balancing profit for purpose. B Corps are measured on their social and environmental performance, evaluating a companies business model, operational procedures, their workers, community, environment and customers.
- Eminence is very aware of using “green” eco-friendly packaging, anywhere recyclable packaging and materials can be used they are. From biodegradable packing chips made from corn flour to vegetable inks and sugar sheet paper, Eminence uses materials that are FSC certified materials in their packaging and marketing.
- Eminence has its own Green Spa Program encouraging not only their own green initiatives but those of their spa partners as well. The program rewards spas and salons that support the green movement, these businesses must meet 60% of the green requirements to be recognized as an Eminence Organics Green Spa. - Eminence’s central office located in Canada is an eco-friendly office, making use of natural light sources with large windows and skylights, the floors are carpeted with tiles made from recycled materials and the walls are decorated with non-toxic paints. Energy efficient appliances and equipment is used along with LED bulbs on eco-friendly timers.

Want to get involved? Here are some ways you can support Earth Day…
- Clean up your neighbourhood, take a bin bag and go for a walk and clean up any garbage, plastics etc, not only does it make your neighbourhood look better it helps protect local wildlife and reduces pollution.
- Plant some insect friendly plants to help our pollinators… and maybe even make or buy a bee/insect house.
- Turn off your lights, electronics etc. for an hour, go around the house and unplug your electronics and devices and keep the lights off for an hour, a simple and effective way to help the earth!
- Have you gone paperless, make the effort on Earth Day and sign up to paperless bills where you can!
- You can calculate your carbon footprint: see how well you are doing and get some tips to improve it.
