What exactly is Halloween?

Halloween has been around for more than a thousand years, originally a religious observance, it became increasingly secular over the centuries until its religious trappings all but disappeared. Today Halloween is considered a holiday for dress-up and fun, especially for children.

Halloween’s origins can be traced back to the ancient Celtic festival known as Samhain, which was held on November 1 in contemporary calendars. It was believed that on that day, the souls of the dead returned to their homes, so people dressed in costumes and lit bonfires to ward off spirits. In this way, popular Halloween tropes such as witches, ghosts, and goblins became associated with the holiday.

Celtic religion was closely tied to the natural world, they worshipped gods in sacred places like lakes, rivers, cliffs and bushes. The moon, the sun and the stars were especially important - the Celts thought that there were supernatural forces in every aspect of the natural world. With this in mind its not the hugest leap to link this to the Biodynamic and Organic Farming methods used by Eminence which have similar close links to nature. Rather than thinking about plastic or rubber masks lets have a look at some more natural options that are just as colourful but smell much nicer!!

Bat Silhouette For Halloween

Yam and Pumpkin Enzyme Peel

It’s not Halloween without Pumpkin and this pale orange treatment containing a delicious purée of yam and pumpkin leaves skin looking firm and radiant.

The exfoliation process is significantly accelerated with this enzyme peel that removes dead skin cells, reduces the appearance of pigmentation, fine lines and sun damage.

Yam is high in beta-carotene and vitamins to fight the appearance of ageing while pumpkin is rich in enzymes, beta-carotene, amino acids and antioxidants to fight the appearance of ageing. Other great ingredients like pineapple, papaya and Willow Bark Extract purify the skin while packing it full of vitamins and minimise the appearance of pores.

Citrus & Kale Potent C + E Masque

We’ve got a feeling Dr Pamela Lillian Isley, Poison Ivy herself would love a Citrus & Kale Masque!

The blend of citrus, leafy greens and avocado oil would definitely be right up her street as they help reduce the look of drying environmental damage, as well as fine lines and wrinkles. Skin is left bright, firm and plumped reducing the appearance of dry, red skin and diminishing the visible signs of ageing.

Relaxing for a few minutes with this fabulous masque might even calm her down a bit, Eminence loves plants too Pamela!!

Turmeric Energising Treatment

You don’t always need magic to get unbelievable results, a lot of the time the natural is even more amazing than the the supernatural! The Turmeric Energising Treatment is formulated with turmeric, citrine gemstones and zeolite, this spicy golden powder awakens the skin. As you slowly add water, activate your treatment into a fluffy mousse bursting with energy. Embrace the warm, exfoliating sensation and reveal silky, luminous skin.

While you wait for it to dry (you can leave it on for between 10-30 minutes) you will feel a hot tingling sensation lasting a few minutes which is a natural response to this product. Don’t be alarmed there’s nothing spooky going on!! For milder stimulation, dilute with more water. Note that the product is water activated; the tingling sensation dissipates over time and will resume during rinse-off. Use of steam, hot towels or warmer water will intensify the heat.

Complexion will look enlivened and brighter as well as helping the mind and body feel greater positive energy.
